In just a few hours, Argentina take the field for their second World Cup match. A win in the match against Austria at the Dallas Stadium would secure the knockout round for La Albiceleste. Ahead of it, the probable line-up of the three-time champions is in focus.

Argentina began their World Cup campaign by beating Algeria 3-0. According to a report by TYC Sports, despite a fine performance in the first match, there will be one change in the defending champions’ eleven. Because of injury, coach Lionel Scaloni will rest right-back Gonzalo Montiel, who is being kept on the bench after feeling a strain in his right hamstring. In Montiel’s absence, Nahuel Molina will start; he is Scaloni’s first choice in the position.

The report also said that, beyond the right-back, two more changes could come in Argentina’s eleven for the Austria match. Julian Alvarez may be in the starting line-up. The forward came on as a substitute against Algeria after recovering from an ankle injury, but as the Atletico Madrid star has not yet fully regained match fitness, some doubt remains. As in the Algeria match, it would be no surprise to see Lautaro Martinez in the starting eleven against Austria too.

Scaloni is also considering one more change in attack. Whether Thiago Almada keeps his place or Nicolas Gonzalez comes in for him has not yet been finalised by the team management, but Almada, who started against Algeria, is more likely to be trusted again, TYC Sports said.

At left-back, Scaloni is keeping Facundo Medina. Although Nicolas Tagliafico has returned from a calf injury, the coaching staff do not want to risk starting him, and the defender could be seen in the second half. As Leandro Paredes gradually regains match fitness, Scaloni may also give him some time, the report added.

Argentina’s probable eleven against Austria: Emiliano Martinez, Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Facundo Medina; Rodrigo De Paul, Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandez, Thiago Almada or Nicolas Gonzalez, Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez.
