Bangladesh’s women’s team has claimed its first win at the Under-18 Asia Cup, beating Chinese Taipei 2-0 in a match held in Japan on Monday.
The red-and-greens had lost their opening match 12-0 to hosts Japan.
Kona Akter put Bangladesh ahead from a penalty corner in the 29th minute, and the team went into the break with the lead. Chinese Taipei made repeated attempts to equalise but failed.
Bangladesh added a second goal 10 minutes into the final quarter, Ria converting from an attacking move to seal the win. Tonni was named player of the match.
Bangladesh’s women face China on Tuesday. In the boys’ competition, Bangladesh lost 3-2 to China on Sunday after beating Malaysia in their opening match.
