Chougacha holds July Martyrs’ Day meeting and prayers

A discussion meeting marking ‘July Martyrs’ Day 2026′ was held with due dignity and solemnity in Chougacha, Jashore.

The meeting, organised by the upazila administration, was held at 11am on Thursday (16 July) in the Chougacha upazila parishad auditorium. It was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farzana Islam.

Speakers included Assistant Commissioner (Land) GMA Munib, Upazila Agriculture Officer Musabbir Husain, Chougacha police station’s acting officer-in-charge (OC) Mamunur Rashid PPM, Upazila Primary Education Officer Mostafizur Rahman, Upazila Secondary Education Officer SM Bazlur Rashid, Chougacha municipal BNP secretary Abdul Halim Chanchal, anti-discrimination student movement Chougacha upazila convener Rashidul Islam Ritom, and Press Club Chougacha general secretary Azizur Rahman, among others.

At the end of the event, the upazila administration presented a gift to the father of Chougacha’s July martyr Al Amin.

At the start of the event, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the July martyrs. At the close, the imam of the upazila parishad Jame Mosque, Hafez Maulana Shahjahan Ali, led prayers seeking the salvation of the July martyrs’ souls and for those who took part in and were injured in the July uprising, and for the progress of the country and nation.

The speakers remembered the sacrifice of the July uprising’s martyrs with deep respect and called on everyone to work together, in the spirit of the martyrs’ ideals, to build a discrimination-free, just and democratic Bangladesh.

Officials of various government offices, teachers and students of various educational institutions, and representatives of political, social and cultural organisations, along with other dignitaries, attended the event.
