FENI — Jamaat-e-Islami will establish justice through bloodshed, just as farmers sweat in the field to grow crops, Shamim Sayedee said. The next election must be fair, said Sayedee, the son of late Jamaat leader Maulana Delawar Hossain Sayeedi and the party’s parliamentary candidate for Pirojpur-2. “We do not want elections involving ballot box snatching, midnight voting or polling-station capture. We want an impartial vote with the participation of the people,” he said.
He made the remarks as chief guest at a gathering of clerics and well-wishers on Friday afternoon at Feni’s Fulgazi Girls’ School auditorium, organized jointly by the Parshuram and Fulgazi upazila Jamaat units.
Sayedee said the Awami League attacked and vandalized Jamaat-e-Islami offices from its central headquarters down to the upazila level to erase the banner of Islam, and filed countless false cases against its leaders and activists. They had committed injustice in the name of justice against many leaders, including former Jamaat chief Professor Ghulam Azam, Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami, Maulana A.T.M. Yusuf, Maulana Azhar, Qader Mollah and Maulana Delawar Hossain Sayeedi, he said. The same tribunal that delivered unjust verdicts against Jamaat leaders will now try them, he said.
“My father, martyr Delawar Hossain Sayeedi, gave his life for Islam. He remained steadfast in his Islamic ideals even through injustice and oppression. We will follow his ideals and path of sacrifice,” he said.
Sayedee called on people to go door to door asking for votes for the scales symbol on behalf of advocate S.M. Kamal Uddin, the Jamaat-e-Islami parliamentary candidate for Feni-1, a Supreme Court lawyer and a member of the party’s central Majlis-e-Shura.
Special guests at the rally included Feni-1 Jamaat candidate advocate S.M. Kamal Uddin and Feni district Jamaat chief Maulana Mufti Abdul Hannan.
District Mosque Mission President Maulana Nur Mohammad chaired the rally, which was conducted by Fulgazi upazila Jamaat chief Mohammad Jamal Uddin Chowdhury. Other speakers included Parshuram upazila Jamaat chief Maulana Abdul Halim; Maulana Shamsul Haque, the Jamaat-nominated candidate for Fulgazi upazila chairman; advocate Emdad Hossain, candidate for Parshuram upazila chairman; and Fulgazi union Jamaat chief Mohammad Abul Kalam Shamim. Clerics, local well-wishers, political activists and worshippers attended the rally.
