The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction has been observed in Chaugachha, Jashore. The day was marked at 10am on Tuesday in the upazila parishad compound, organised by the Chaugachha upazila administration and the Department of Disaster Management.
A rally, a drill and a discussion meeting were held to mark the day. The discussion was chaired by upazila nirbahi officer Farzana Islam.
Among those who spoke were upazila agriculture officer Mosabbir Hossain, project implementation officer Samsun Nahar, upazila engineer Alamgir Hossain, upazila BNP president MA Salam and organising secretary Mostafizur Rahman Mostak.
After the meeting, officers of the upazila Fire Service and Civil Defence gave a demonstration of firefighting, accident rescue and other operations.
