Chowgachha upazila in Jashore marked National Revolution and Solidarity Day 2026 with due dignity on Saturday, 7 November.
The upazila administration held a discussion at 10:30am in the upazila council meeting room. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Islam presided. The special guests were Assistant Commissioner (Land) GMA Munib, Chowgachha police station officer-in-charge Kazi Babul Hossain, freedom fighters Wajed Ali and Ruhul Amin, upazila BNP president MA Salam and upazila Jamaat-e-Islami chief Maulana Golam Morshed.
BNP and Jamaat leaders at various levels, leaders of the Chowgachha Press Club, upazila officials and staff, heads of educational institutions, teachers, students and local dignitaries also attended.
Speakers said that despite political differences, everyone must stay united in the country’s interest, and that a happy, prosperous and developed Bangladesh can be built through national unity and mutual cooperation.
At the end of the event, the guests handed out prizes to the winners of a drawing competition.
In the afternoon, the municipal BNP held a discussion meeting at the town’s press club grounds, presided over by municipal BNP president Selim Reza Auriar. The speakers included upazila BNP president MA Salam, former president Zahurul Islam, upazila BNP general secretary Masudul Hasan, organising secretary Mostafizur Rahman and advocate Ali Buddin, BNP leader and union council chairman Ataur Rahman Lal, municipal BNP organising secretary Saidul Islam, upazila Jubo Dal convener MA Mannan, Salauddin, Ariful Islam Wasim, and Chhatra Dal leaders Jasim Uddin and Emon Hasan Rocky.
After the meeting, the leaders led a colourful rally from the press club crossing through the town’s main roads.
7 November 1975 was an important and eventful day in Bangladesh’s political history. A counter-coup inside the army and the participation of soldiers and civilians brought a major change to the political situation of the time, which is why the day is observed as National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
