Delhi police have detained Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and former chief minister of Delhi. He was detained outside his home at Lodhi Estate in Delhi.
Earlier, police detained Neha Bora, president of the All India Students’ Association (AISA). Neha Bora, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were detained while leading a march from Dilli Haat towards Jantar Mantar.
Mamata Banerjee, former chief minister of West Bengal, has also been detained. She was holding a sit-in in front of her Delhi residence when Delhi police took her away.
Police are carrying out an unprecedented round-up in the Indian capital, New Delhi, over a protest programme of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). More than a thousand people have been detained, among them the popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and the CJP’s convener, Abhijit Dipke, as they prepared to join a protest rally at Jantar Mantar.
