The 11-party alliance will hold a Sylhet divisional rally on Saturday under its previously announced programme, demanding implementation of the referendum verdict and the trial of what it calls the “fascist” Sheikh Hasina and her associates over the July killings. The rally has been arranged for 2:30 p.m. at Sylhet’s historic Aliya Madrasa ground.
Leader of the opposition and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, will speak as chief guest.
The rally will be chaired by Liberal Democratic Party chairman and former minister Dr. Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmad, Bir Bikrom, with senior leaders of the 11-party alliance speaking as special guests.
Party secretary general Mia Golam Parwar has made an earnest call to all relevant Jamaat units in Sylhet division and to people of all classes and professions in the area to implement the rally successfully. He made the call in a statement sent to the media on Thursday.
