On his way back to Barisal after a tree-planting program and the distribution of family cards in Gournadi, Barisal, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stopped his motorcade at the request of young students and took selfies with them. He exchanged greetings with the students and handed them various pieces of sports equipment. The prime minister’s gesture visibly delighted the students.

The incident took place at around noon on Monday (July 13) in front of the Shishu Niketon Secondary School, adjacent to the Barisal Cadet College campus, in the Satmail area of Barisal on the Dhaka-Barisal highway.

To catch a glimpse of the prime minister, teachers, students, parents and leaders and workers of the BNP and its affiliated organizations lined both sides of the Dhaka-Barisal highway from Gournadi to Barisal. Seeing the crowds on both sides of the road, the prime minister stopped his motorcade and exchanged greetings with students, local residents and grassroots leaders and workers.

At around 1:30 p.m., there was great excitement among the students at having the prime minister close by in the Satmail area. They welcomed him with applause and captured the memorable moment on camera.

When several students expressed a wish to take a selfie with the prime minister, he took a girl student’s mobile phone and took the selfies with the students himself, before distributing sports equipment among those present. Joy and excitement spread among the students.
