Aam Aadmi Party national convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has directly accused the BJP and the RSS over the theft of donations and jewellery given by devotees at the Ram temple. He made the explosive allegation that only low-level employees were being made scapegoats to shield the real “masterminds.”
He made the allegation while facing reporters during a visit to Ayodhya on Friday (26 June).
Kejriwal said a completely transparent and impartial investigation was needed into the theft of crores of rupees in donations and valuable jewellery given by devotees.
He alleged that the FIR filed by police over the theft was merely a token exercise.
“Serious questions are being raised over crores of rupees in donations and priceless ornaments. It is being said that even the last few months’ CCTV footage cannot be found,” he said. “The real truth of an incident bound up with the emotions and faith of crores of devotees should come before the country, and the real culprits should be punished.”
Referring to the arrest of eight employees, he added: “Eight minor employees have been arrested. It is impossible for such an ordinary group of staff alone to carry out such a big scandal running for so long. Its roots spread much higher. An attempt is being made to pin the blame on junior staff and shield the big heads.”
Calling the theft at the Ram temple a “great sin,” he demanded the harshest punishment for those responsible.
Addressing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Kejriwal said: “Yogi ji, those involved in the theft of Ram temple donations want to remove you from power. A big conspiracy is being woven for this. These people are after your chair. Why are you standing beside those accused of such a great sin? Come and stand with us in this fight.”
He added: “Many big people are involved behind the theft of Ram temple donations. Those who came to power by exploiting Lord Ram’s name — Lord Ram himself will now pull them down from power.”
