ICU opens at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital after long closure

The intensive care unit (ICU) at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital was inaugurated on Sunday as part of a simultaneous launch of ICUs in 10 districts of the country.

At an event held in the Sadar Hospital conference room at 10 a.m., Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul, MP, joined virtually and inaugurated the ICUs in 10 districts, including Chuadanga. The guests later visited the ICU unit set up on the seventh floor of the hospital’s new building.

Chuadanga-1 lawmaker Advocate Masud Parvez Rasel attended the event. He said the launch of the ICU after a long closure is an important addition to the district’s healthcare. Quality medical care for patients must also be ensured by securing skilled manpower, he said.

Inauguration of the ICU at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital

Civil Surgeon Dr. Hadi Zia Uddin Ahmed said that after the inauguration, the ICU’s operations would begin very soon, once the necessary preparations are completed. But skilled manpower is needed to run this unit, he said.

Also present at the time were the hospital’s resident medical officer Bidyut Kumar Biswas, RMO Dr. Farhana Wahid Tani, Dr. Ehsanul Haque Tanmoy, various political leaders, doctors and nurses.

It is hoped that with the ICU opening after a long closure, critically ill patients in Chuadanga will get the chance to receive advanced medical care locally.
