The former assistant sports secretary of the Chuadanga district Jubo Dal, Jahin Sheikh, was hacked indiscriminately and seriously injured by attackers. His left wrist was completely severed from his body in the attack, and various parts of his body and the heels of both feet were badly wounded by sharp weapons.

The brutal attack took place at around 11 p.m. on Saturday (July 11) in the Homeopathy College area of Chuadanga municipal town.

According to local sources, a group of attackers suddenly set upon Jahin Sheikh as he was passing through the Homeopathy College area at night. They hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons; at one point his left wrist was severed and deep wounds were inflicted on the heels of both feet and various parts of his body. His screams brought locals to the scene, and the attackers fled.

Local residents later rescued him, bloodied and seriously injured, and rushed him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

The doctor on duty at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital said Jahin Sheikh’s condition was extremely critical because of excessive bleeding. After giving primary treatment, and considering the deterioration in his condition, he was referred on an emergency basis to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
