A 17-year-old female cricketer has died in Nagpur, India, in what police initially believe was a suicide, several Indian media outlets reported. BD Global Times is not identifying her because she was a minor.
Her body was found at a house in Nagpur on Wednesday, police said. Officers said they recovered a handwritten note at the scene and believe distress may have been a factor, but that the exact cause and circumstances would be established only after the investigation is complete.
Police said the player had recently been left out of a Vidarbha Cricket Association team. A case of unnatural death has been filed and an autopsy ordered.
