Dhaka: Six more children have died of suspected measles in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 594, the Directorate General of Health Services said Tuesday. No deaths from confirmed measles infection were recorded during the period.
The figures cover the 24 hours from 8 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to a bulletin issued by the health directorate.
Of the total deaths, 90 were from confirmed measles and 504 from suspected measles, the directorate said.
Forty-two confirmed measles cases were detected in the past 24 hours. The number of confirmed infections has reached 9,136 to date.
Over the same period, 1,292 children showed measles symptoms, taking the total number of suspected cases to 73,362.
