The Acting President and Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, will conduct official business at Bangabhaban. He will, however, continue to live at the Speaker’s official residence on the Jatiya Sangsad grounds.

Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed gave this information while speaking to the media on Saturday.

Meanwhile, as part of the president’s security, special security arrangements were put in place from Friday afternoon at the Speaker’s official residence on the parliament grounds and in the surrounding areas.

President Md Sahabuddin resigned last Friday citing health reasons, whereupon, under the constitution, the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, took over as acting president.

On the acting president’s programme, Shairul Kabir Khan said that at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will lay a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar in tribute to the heroic martyrs. Then, at 12:30 p.m., he will pay his respects and offer prayers at the graves of the martyred president Ziaur Rahman and the former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.
