The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate fined a sweets manufacturer 20,000 taka during a market inspection in Alamdanga, Chuadanga.
The Chuadanga district office of the directorate conducted the raid at Gholdari market on Thursday (July 2) from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., inspecting rice depots, sweets shops, pharmacies, and fertilizer and seed dealers.
The directorate fined Md. Shukur Ali’s “Misti Bari” establishment under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
Other businesses were instructed to keep price lists updated, sell goods at fair and reasonable prices, and refrain from selling expired or substandard food products, medicines, seeds, and baby food.
The raid was led by Assistant Director Mohammad Mamunul Hasan of the directorate’s Chuadanga district office, with support from the Consumers Association of Bangladesh and members of the district Ansar battalion.
Mamunul Hasan said such inspections and enforcement operations will continue in the public interest.
