Police have recovered the bloodied body of a tea seller, Samirul Shah, 60, from a bamboo platform in the Dharmadaha area of Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila. With multiple sharp-weapon wounds on his body and face, police believe he was killed.

The body was recovered at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, from the Dharmadaha area of the border Adabaria union in the upazila.

Samirul Shah was the son of the late Bisharad Shah of Tekala Paschimpara village in the upazila. Alongside selling tea for a long time, he had been living with his family in the Dharmadaha area.

According to police and local sources, locals saw the body lying in a bloodied state on a bamboo platform in a field beside the Bengari–Dharmadaha road in the morning and informed police. Members of the Tekala police camp then went to the scene and recovered the body.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur police station, Khaledur Rahman, said an inquest report had been prepared after the scene was inspected. The body is being sent to the morgue of Kushtia Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem.

He also said police investigation was continuing to uncover the real cause of the killing and to identify and arrest those involved.
