KHAGRACHARI — A 50-year-old man drowned while bathing in Dhurung canal in Khagrachari’s Laxmichhari upazila on Friday afternoon, residents said.
The victim, Roshi Kumar Chakma, was the son of Ananda Kumar Chakma of Chakmapara village in Mahishkata.
Residents said Roshi entered the canal while intoxicated around 12:30 p.m. When he did not return for a long time, family members began a search and found his body in the Kalapani sluice gate area.
Laxmichhari police station inspector Humayun Kabir said he had received word of the incident, but no written complaint had been filed at the station so far.
