Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal to spend Eid in home constituency

NETRAKONA — Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Netrakona-1 (Kalmakanda-Durgapur) MP Barrister Kaiser Kamal will celebrate Eid ul-Fitr in his home constituency, an aide and local sources said.

Kamal is staying in his village of Chatrangpur in Kalmakanda upazila headquarters. His visit ahead of the festival has created a celebratory mood in the area.

Local sources said Eid ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday, March 21. Kamal will offer Eid prayers that morning at the Chatrangpur Eidgah ground alongside worshippers from all walks of life. After prayers, he will exchange greetings with residents and share the Eid celebrations with them.

Kamal has a busy schedule on Eid day. In the afternoon, he will attend as chief guest the golden jubilee of the GBC Women’s Society annual women’s camp at Birisiri in Durgapur upazila. At the event he will meet with people from various communities, including Hindus, Muslims, Garo and Hajong.

Later in the afternoon, he will travel to Lenggura and Kharnoi unions of Kalmakanda upazila to meet local residents.

Ahead of the festival, Kamal has been distributing Eid gifts to vulnerable and poor families across villages in Kalmakanda and Durgapur since Wednesday. He has also joined iftar gatherings, prayer events and social welfare programs to signal his continued engagement with constituents.

Residents said they welcomed Kamal’s decision to spend Eid in the constituency and said his direct involvement as an elected representative had strengthened his relationship with local people.

Kamal regularly takes part in development, social and welfare activities in his constituency, and constituents view his consistent contact with them and presence in their lives as central to his political work.
