PANCHAGARH — A passenger bus carrying about 30 to 35 people lost control and overturned after hitting a roadside mango tree in Debiganj upazila on Thursday, leaving two passengers injured, police said.
The crash occurred Thursday afternoon, March 26, in the Lakshminarayani Fultola area of Sundardighi union.
Police and local residents said the Shahi Paribahan bus was traveling from Nilphamari’s Domar upazila town to Dinajpur when the driver lost control and the vehicle struck a mango tree beside the road and flipped. Two passengers were injured.
Debiganj fire service officer-in-charge Md. Manjurul Islam said the crash site was in a remote area. “As soon as we got the news, we rushed there. Before we arrived, the passengers had already left on their own.”
Debiganj police station officer-in-charge Md. Selim Malik said no deaths had been reported. Exaggerated information about the crash had been circulating on social media, he said.
The driver and helper fled after the crash, Malik said. Law enforcement personnel had been deployed at the scene to protect passengers’ belongings.
