TEHRAN — The consequences of any attack on Iran’s civilian and critical infrastructure will not be confined to Iran or the Middle East but will spread across the world, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned. He delivered the message in a phone call Monday with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
Araghchi called US President Donald Trump’s threats to strike Iran’s power plants and other civilian facilities a “normalization of war crimes and genocide.”
He said such provocative steps would have devastating effects on the global energy sector and economy. Only the US administration and the aggressors will be responsible for any consequences that arise from this situation, he said.
In his conversation with the French foreign minister, Araghchi also stressed that if any attack is carried out that violates Iran’s sovereignty or public interest, the country’s armed forces will deliver a “final and all-out” response.
Amid the current instability in the Middle East, Tehran is mainly drawing the international community’s attention to the risk that attacks on Iran’s infrastructure could trigger a global energy crisis.
