The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has again raised the price of jet fuel, the fuel used in aviation. Under the new decision, the price of a litre of jet fuel for flights on domestic routes has been set at Tk 182.71, including duty and VAT.
The price was announced in a BERC notification issued on Wednesday. The new price takes effect from midnight on 7 October and will remain in force until further orders.
In September a litre of jet fuel for domestic flights cost Tk 165.65. The price has thus risen by Tk 17.06 in a month, an increase of about 10.30%.
The price has also been raised for flights on international routes: BERC has set the price per litre, excluding duty and VAT, at $1.1882, up from $1.0770.
The notification says the new prices for October were set taking into account the average Platts rate for Jet A-1 fuel on the international market and the US dollar exchange rate given in the LC statement of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
The decision raises the fuel cost of operating flights on both domestic and international routes. On domestic routes in particular, a litre of jet fuel has gone up by more than 10% in a month.
