Gayathri Suresh’s experience of a romantic relationship was the opposite of the love and security people hope for. Within a week of the relationship beginning she heard a question from her partner that shook her deeply. She later tried to keep the relationship going but found no comfort in it.
The Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 contestant recently spoke about that bitter experience.
Viewers were surprised by Gayathri’s sudden exit from the competition. A few days before leaving the show, however, she shared the painful chapter of her life in front of everyone during one of the programme’s tasks.
In the task Bigg Boss asked: “If you had the chance to speak to the person who hurt you most in life, what would you say?” In reply Gayathri recalled an incident from 2021.
She said: “There are many people in my life who have hurt me. But the incident that hurt me most and left me completely broken was one in 2021. I was in a situationship then. At first I thought it was a romantic relationship, but looking back it feels as if it was really only a situationship.”
Gayathri said she noticed things in her partner’s behaviour early on that should have put her on guard. Within a few days he seemed a “red flag” to her. But, thinking that someone close should be given a chance to correct himself, she decided to continue the relationship.
Speaking of the most painful moment of her life, she said: “In the first week of the relationship he asked me, ‘You don’t have AIDS, do you?’ At that moment I broke off the relationship with him. But later I felt I was wrong to find so much negativity in those words. So I revived the relationship.”
The decision did not turn out well for her in the end. “It did not do much good. Even while he was with me, he was drawn to other women,” she said.
Gayathri now sees that experience as a toxic situationship. Her disclosure has started a discussion on social media, Indian media reported.
