Md Rashed Khan has been appointed assistant (political) to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. A notification from the Ministry of Public Administration announced this on Sunday. On Monday, Rashed Khan himself confirmed it in a post attaching the notification to his verified Facebook account, thanking the prime minister for the appointment and seeking everyone’s cooperation so that he can perform his duties properly.
The notification said Md Rashed Khan was being given a contractual appointment as assistant (political) to the prime minister, at the rank of secretary, on condition that he give up any other profession, business or working relationship with any government, semi-government or private institution or organisation, effective from the date of joining for the prime minister’s term or subject to his satisfaction, whichever comes first.
On 27 December last year, Muhammad Rashed Khan resigned as general secretary of the Gono Odhikar Parishad and joined the BNP. He was later defeated in the national parliamentary election from the Jhenaidah-4 seat.
