Four more children die with measles symptoms

Four more children have died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours. In the same period, 1,005 children were affected by measles or measles symptoms.

The information was given in the health directorate’s updated report on measles on Thursday (30 July).

The health directorate said that although four children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, no confirmed measles death of any child was recorded.

With this, a total of 739 children have died with measles symptoms across the country from 15 March to Thursday. A further 96 children have died of confirmed measles. In all, a total of 835 children have died of measles or measles symptoms in this period.

According to the report, 135 children were newly infected with measles in the past 24 hours. A further 870 patients with measles symptoms were identified. In this period 816 children were admitted to hospital and 855 children were discharged after treatment.

According to the health directorate, the total number of suspected measles patients in the country from 15 March until now stands at 1,27,410. Of them, measles has been confirmed in 15,874.

In this period a total of 1,10,182 patients were admitted to hospital. Of them, 1,06,053 have recovered and returned home after treatment.
