A vegetable trader named Md Kuddus, 50, has been stabbed to death by unidentified attackers in the East Jurain area of the capital’s Kadamtoli.
When he was taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital in a critical condition at around 11:45 pm on Thursday (18 June), the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Earlier, the incident took place at around 10:30 pm in front of Poppy School in Jurain’s Nabaron lane.
Kuddus, the vegetable trader who was killed, was a resident of house 91/A on Darogabari Road in East Jurain. Relatives said he traded vegetables at the local Bou Bazar.
Kamal Sikder, who took Kuddus to hospital, said Kuddus was returning home after closing his business for the night along the road in front of Poppy School in Nabaron lane, East Jurain, when unidentified attackers struck him in various parts of his body with a sharp weapon and fled. Locals then quickly rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Md Faruk, officer-in-charge (OC) of the DMCH Hospital police outpost, said the body had been kept in the hospital morgue and that the matter had been reported to the relevant police station.
