An unidentified man has died in an accident while riding on the roof of the Dhaka-to-Panchagarh Drutojan Express train.
When the train reached Santahar railway junction at about 2:30 am on Thursday night, his body was handed over to the Santahar Railway GRP police.
A police source said the dead man’s identity had not yet been established.
His body was sent to Naogaon Government Medical College Hospital for an autopsy on Friday (19 June) morning.
Santahar Railway GRP sub-inspector (SI) and case investigating officer A K M Fazlur Rahman said the body’s identity had not yet been established. There was a small injury mark on the neck, an abrasion on the back and signs of bleeding from the nose, he said. Based on the evidence at the scene and the physical condition, it was initially believed to be an accidental death.
He added that the body had been sent to Naogaon Government Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, and that an unnatural-death (UD) case had been filed at Santahar Railway police station. Police were working to establish the dead man’s identity and the matter was being investigated with importance, he said.
