Jamaat holds protest march in Magura over gas crisis, prices

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Magura district unit has held a protest march, rally and submitted a memorandum in protest at the nationwide gas crisis, frequent load-shedding, power price hikes and rising prices of daily essentials.

On Thursday (6 August) afternoon, the protest march set out from the town’s Nomani Maidan and ended in front of the deputy commissioner’s office via College Road, where a memorandum was submitted to the Magura deputy commissioner.

Speakers at a brief rally included acting district Amir Principal Mashiur Rahman, joint secretary Maruf Karkhi, municipal Amir Ashraful Alam and Advocate Azmat Hossain.

Speakers called on the government to meet all demands immediately, including resolving the gas crisis, lowering power prices and cutting the prices of daily essentials.
