Egypt has strongly condemned Iran’s strikes on Persian Gulf Arab states including Kuwait and Bahrain, launched in retaliation for U.S. attacks. Cairo described the strikes as an “extreme violation” of sovereignty and an “unacceptable provocation” to regional stability, according to Al Jazeera.

In an official statement issued Wednesday (July 8), Egypt’s foreign ministry said Egypt firmly rejects any action that endangers the security of fraternal Arab states. Cairo also called on all parties to exercise restraint and de-escalate tensions to preserve regional peace.

In the statement, Egypt expressed full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain, reaffirming its commitment to standing by them against any threats to their security.

Egypt’s foreign ministry said the stability of the Gulf region is an integral part of Egypt’s own national security and the security of the wider region.

Criticizing Iran’s aggressive conduct, the statement further said there could be no reasonable justification or excuse for Iran’s repeated, condemnable attacks.
