A non-political organization, Izzatul Islam Bangladesh, was launched in Narail on Saturday.
The launch took place at the upazila model mosque hall in the Madrasa Bazar area of Narail Sadar on Saturday, May 23.
Speakers included Maulana Mufti Farid Uddin, director of Darul Uloom Narail; Maulana Najmus Shahadat Al Mamun, principal of Markazul Quran Narail; Mufti Abu Talha, khatib of the Narail Sadar upazila Jame Mosque; Sheikh Rakib Uddin, spokesperson for Izzatul Islam Bangladesh; Mufti Omar Faruk; Mohammad Abu Musa, chairman of Paradise Academy Narail; and organizer Shafayat Ullah.
Sheikh Rakib Uddin, the spokesperson, said Izzatul Islam meant the honor, pride or dignity of Islam. The organization is non-political and began its journey on Saturday, he said. Izzatul Islam Bangladesh is a platform for the relatively younger generation of Islamic scholars, with the goal of seeking God’s pleasure and the love of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The group will also push back against insults and misrepresentations of Sharia and faith, he said.
