Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push five people, including women and a child, illegally into Bangladesh at the Chuadanga border.

Major Toyasin Habib Hasan, additional director and acting commanding officer of the Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB), gave the information in a statement on Thursday, July 23. The incident took place around 4 a.m. the same day.

BGB said that at about 4 a.m., members of the Gede camp of the 32 BSF Battalion tried to push one man, three women and a child illegally into Bangladesh through the area adjoining border pillar 76/4-S, under the responsibility of the Darshana BOP of BGB’s Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB). A BGB patrol identified the attempt immediately and prevented the people from entering Bangladesh. They were then made to remain in the area adjoining the border barbed-wire fence. In the face of BGB’s firm stance, the BSF was finally forced to take the people back into its own territory, and the illegal push-in attempt was successfully foiled.

The statement added that BGB remains alert and prepared at all times to prevent any kind of illegal infiltration and attempts to violate border law, and is carrying out its duties with professionalism, vigilance and responsibility to ensure border security and maintain peace and order in border areas.
