India’s Border Security Force (BSF) again tried to push a woman into Bangladesh through the Roknpur border in Radhanagar union of Gomastapur upazila in Chapainawabganj, the BGB said. The BSF was forced to take her back after resistance from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local residents.

The BSF made the attempt on Monday (June 15) night near border pillar 225/3-R in the area covered by the Roknpur BOP of the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB).

Members of the R K Wada camp of India’s 88 Battalion BSF tried to push the woman into Bangladesh by boat, with help from fishermen, the BGB said.

Lt. Col. Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), confirmed the incident. He said the push-in was prevented through immediate action with the help of the BGB and local residents, and the woman was pushed back. She was positioned inside Indian territory along the border’s zero line. The border situation was being closely monitored and round-the-clock surveillance was continuing in the border area, he said.

Earlier, the BSF tried to push in 15 people through the same border early on June 13. BGB members foiled that attempt, and the BSF later took them back.
