Computer labs to be set up at 1,000 educational institutions

Computer labs will be set up at one thousand educational institutions across the country, ICT Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam has said, adding that once the DPP is approved, digital labs would be installed at institutions in the questioner’s constituency in the coming fiscal year. He spoke during the question hour on the third day of parliament’s second session on Tuesday (9 June) afternoon, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram.

Abdul Hannan Masud, MP for Noakhali-6, asked what plans the minister had for installing computer labs at secondary and higher secondary schools on the coastal island of Hatiya to spread modern, technology-based education among the area’s lagging students. In reply, the minister said that under the “Establishment of Digital Labs in Educational Institutions (2nd Phase)” project, implemented by the ICT Department under the ICT Division, computer labs have already been installed at 13 institutions in Hatiya upazila. He added that the process of revising the DPP is under way to install computer labs at another 1,000 institutions across the country under the project.
