Iran has alleged that the United States and Israel carried out attacks on the country even on the day of the funeral of its slain supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. State-run Iranian media claimed that several strikes were carried out on Thursday evening on two military bases in two different cities.

But in a statement to CNN, a US official said the American military was carrying out no attacks in Iran at this time. Israeli officials, for their part, said they had no information indicating any Israeli involvement in the strikes.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA, citing Ehsan Jahanian, the deputy governor for political and security affairs of Bushehr province, reported that missiles from the US and Israeli “enemies” had struck a military installation near the city of Bushehr. No specific information on damage or casualties there was provided.

Notably, Iran’s main nuclear power plant lies on the outskirts of Bushehr. At the same time, Iran’s state television IRIB reported that enemy warplanes struck a naval military zone in the southern city of Konarak in two waves on Thursday evening, and Mohammad Younes Hakkani, the governor of Konarak county, said rescue teams and security forces were working at the scene. Konarak, on the western shore of the Gulf of Oman, is a strategic port city, while Bushehr lies in Iran’s southern coastal province.
