Springfield Corporation, Alibaba.com’s authorised channel partner in Bangladesh, has formally inaugurated its new office in Chattogram. Through the initiative, those concerned hope, the opportunity for the country’s exporters, manufacturers, suppliers and traders to enter the global market through digital commerce will be further expanded.
Among those present at the inauguration were Alibaba.com’s general manager for Pakistan and Bangladesh, Samar; the senior specialist (channel operation) of the global business development division, Vania; business development manager Bryce; service and account manager Tina; and Bangladesh channel manager Sonobar Maira. Also present were senior officials of both organisations, including Springfield Corporation’s managing director Md Foyezul Alam, executive director Shan Shahed, consultant Sajid Bin Sulaiman, deputy general manager Rezbi Karim and assistant general manager Umma Rokeya Nisha.
The event was told that, through this partnership, Springfield Corporation would help Bangladeshi traders connect to Alibaba.com’s global business-to-business (B2B) platform. Through the platform, which connects buyers and sellers in about 200 countries and regions of the world, local entrepreneurs would be able to present their products and services more effectively in the international market. Although activities would initially centre on the textile and apparel sector, there are plans to gradually expand the service to other export-oriented industries, including jute, leather, light engineering and handicrafts.
Speakers said that, with the opening of the Chattogram office, local businesses would get easier access to the international market, and that it would play an important role in developing the country’s export sector, expanding foreign trade and growing the digital economy. They added that, in today’s world, digital trade had become one of the main driving forces of global business, and that Bangladesh’s entrepreneurs must seize the opportunity to strengthen their position in global competition. Those concerned believe the opening of Springfield Corporation’s Chattogram office will play an important role in further strengthening the country’s export ecosystem, accelerating digital transformation and opening new horizons for sustainable economic growth through global trade.
