Indian youth detained for illegal entry in Fatikchhari

A patrol team of the Ramgarh 43 BGB has detained an Indian national, Puton Molla, 19, from the Andharmanik border area of Bhujpur in the Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong. After completing the legal formalities, the Ramgarh 43 BGB Battalion handed him over to the local Bhujpur police on Monday night.

The commander of the Ramgarh 43 BGB Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Md Ahsan Ul Islam, confirmed the matter.

According to the BGB, at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, a special patrol team of the Andharmanik border outpost (BOP), with the help of alert local villagers, detained Puton Molla while he was moving about suspiciously in the Andharmanik border area under the Ramgarh 43 BGB Battalion.

In questioning, the youth admitted to being an Indian citizen. He said his home was in the Ramendranagar border area of the Sabroom subdivision of the South Tripura district in India’s Tripura state, and that his father’s name was Badal Molla. There was, however, no immediate specific information on exactly why he had illegally entered Bangladesh by crossing the border.

The commander of the Ramgarh 43 BGB Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Md Ahsan Ul Islam, said the BGB’s strict surveillance and flash operations to prevent illegal entry, drugs and smuggling in border areas would continue regularly in future.
