Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has said he will conduct official business at Bangabhaban but will live at the Speaker’s official residence on the Jatiya Sangsad grounds. He gave this information while speaking to the media today, Saturday.
Special security arrangements for the president have already been stepped up at the Speaker’s official residence on the parliament grounds and in the surrounding areas. These arrangements have been in effect since yesterday, Friday, afternoon.
Md Sahabuddin resigned from the office of president yesterday, Friday, on health grounds, whereupon, under the constitution, the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, took over as acting president.
Meanwhile, a member of the BNP’s media cell, Shairul Kabir Khan, said that at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will lay a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar. Later, at 12:30 p.m., he will pay his respects and offer prayers at the graves of the martyred president Ziaur Rahman and the former prime minister Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.
