Israel’s image is steadily declining worldwide, according to the latest Pew Research Center survey. Pew surveyed 36 countries, including Bangladesh, and most respondents held a negative view of Israel. The survey, conducted from 8 February to 13 May, found that an average of 67 percent of adults across the surveyed countries held a negative view of Israel, while only 25 percent viewed it positively. Pew said most interviews were conducted after the United States and Israel began their war against Iran on 28 February — a war that has deepened economic crisis worldwide.

Hostility toward Israel was particularly pronounced in the Muslim-majority countries surveyed — such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkey — as well as in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Pew said it had been unable to conduct the survey in Gaza. European publics were no less hostile: in Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, about two-thirds or more of adults said they held a very negative view of Israel.

The findings suggest that Israel’s international image — already damaged by the war in Gaza — has worsened further since the war against Iran, Pew said, with negative sentiment toward Israel rising in 13 of 24 countries. In Argentina, for example, 46 percent of adults held an unfavourable view of Israel in 2025; that figure has now risen to 55 percent. The number of people holding a very unfavourable view also rose in Australia, Italy, Nigeria, Poland and the United Kingdom.
