Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 460 people on charges of involvement in various crimes during routine operations in the capital over the past 24 hours. On Monday (20 July), the DMP’s media and public relations department said the operations were carried out in various police-station areas of the capital from midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday.
According to the DMP, those arrested included 39 in the Ramna division, 33 in Lalbagh, 57 in Wari, 56 in Motijheel, 62 in Tejgaon, 126 in Mirpur, 34 in Gulshan, 47 in Uttara, and 6 in the Detective Branch (DB).
The DMP said drugs had been recovered during the operations. From those arrested, police recovered 12,084 yaba pills, 120 grams of cannabis and 100 bottles of syrup-based intoxicants, along with about 5,000 taka in cash. The DMP said legal action against those arrested was under way, with 49 separate cases filed so far.
