A tragic incident has again occurred on a cricket field. Suhail, a young fast bowler from India’s Jammu and Kashmir, died after falling ill during a match. He suddenly collapsed on the field while returning to his fielding position after completing an over, and was declared dead by doctors when he was later taken to hospital.

According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in a match of the third-division cricket tournament the “Valesa Chenab Premier League” in Jammu and Kashmir. Suhail was playing for Badshah 11 Valesa against Gymkhana Kishtwar. Citing eyewitnesses, the reports said that after completing his second over, Suhail bent down to tie his shoelace; when he stood up he lost his balance for a few seconds, and although he began to walk normally, he suddenly collapsed on the field after going a short distance. Seeing him fall, teammates and opposition players rushed over. After being given first aid on the field, he was taken to a local hospital by car. A video circulating on social media showed a car entering the field to take him to hospital as an emergency, but doctors declared Suhail dead after he reached the hospital.

An autopsy will be carried out on his body to determine the exact cause of death, after which the body will be handed over to the family. Police have filed an unnatural-death case over the incident, and an investigation has begun to establish the actual cause of death. The young cricketer’s sudden death has cast a deep shadow of grief over the local cricket community.
