Bangladesh collapse hands Australia easy win in Chattogram

It looked less like a match than a catching drill laid on for Australia, with Bangladesh’s batters gifting wicket after wicket. At the Chattogram ground, Bangladesh lost eight of their 10 wickets to catches — a pattern rarely seen in the format’s long history.

In a match defined by a batting collapse, the hosts were all out for 131 with one over of the innings still remaining.

Bangladesh’s start had suggested the batters were in good rhythm, with the two Tigers openers playing their shots freely. But in the third over Tanzid Tamim holed out to a catch.

After that it became a contest to see who could offer up the next catch. The Tigers lost wickets at regular intervals, with one catch after another taken by the Australian fielders.

In the end Bangladesh lost all their wickets with one over to spare, the scoreboard reading 131. Against Australia, that total is nowhere near enough to win. To pull off a victory, Bangladesh will now have to bowl and field at their very best.
