Israel accused of plotting to break up Pakistan

Israel has been accused of secretly supporting the separatist movement in Pakistan’s Balochistan. The alleged aim could be to put new pressure on Pakistan and weaken its territorial and strategic position. The issue has prompted renewed discussion about Pakistan’s unity amid the conflict in the Middle East and new geopolitical alignments.

No formal announcement of such support has come from the Israeli government. For now, the allegation remains part of political analysis, statements by separatist leaders and wider regional geopolitical debate.

Claims of secret Israeli contacts with or support for the movement to separate Balochistan from Pakistan are not new. The issue resurfaced after activity by anti-Pakistan Baloch groups and demands for a so-called independent Balochistan.

In July, a letter issued in the name of the Republic of Balochistan circulated on social media. It claimed that Balochistan had declared independence and that rebel groups controlled about 85 percent of the region. The claim could not be independently verified. No international organization or state has recognized Balochistan as an independent country.

Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province by area. Its mineral resources, natural gas and strategic position on the Arabian Sea make it important. The province is also central to Pakistan’s economic and infrastructure cooperation with China, so unrest there affects not only Pakistan’s internal security but also the broader interests of India, China, Iran and Middle Eastern states.

Analysts say the province has long faced anger over political deprivation, control of natural resources, allegations of disappearances and security operations. These factors have strengthened separatist movements at different times. Viewing the Baloch crisis only as an external conspiracy could therefore hide its internal political and social causes.

Pakistan and Israel have no diplomatic relations. Islamabad has long been a strong critic of Israel over the Palestinian issue and has condemned statements associated with a "Greater Israel". Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry says such ideas conflict with international law and the UN Charter and threaten regional peace and stability.

Against that backdrop, discussion of possible Israeli activity against Pakistan continues, but no public, independently verified evidence has emerged to establish that the Israeli state is providing money, weapons or military assistance to Baloch separatists. Pakistan is also facing a prolonged insurgency in Balochistan, an economic crisis, political instability and security problems in border areas.
