DHAKA — Bangladesh’s Islamic Arabic University announced results of the two-year 2024 Kamil postgraduate exams on Sunday, with 89.82 percent of candidates passing.

Darunnajat Siddiqia Kamil Madrasa, Charsina Darussunnat Kamil Madrasa and Jhalokati N.S. Kamil Madrasa took the top spots on the final-year merit list. Baitush Sharaf Adarsha Kamil Madrasa, Government Madrasa-e-Alia Dhaka and Jamia Ahmadia Sunnia Kamil Madrasa topped the first-year list.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Abu Jafar Khan formally released the results at 3 p.m. Sunday. Earlier, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and acting Controller of Examinations Professor Mohammad Shahidul Islam handed a copy of the results to the vice-chancellor.

Khan congratulated the successful candidates, saying the timely release of results through the university’s own resources reflected the dedicated work of everyone involved.

Treasurer A.S.M. Mamunur Rahman Khalili, acting Registrar Fahad Ahmad Momtazi, Director (Planning and Development) Mohammad Ziaur Rahman and teachers, officers and staff of the examinations department were also present.

Khan said the university’s primary goal is to hold exams on time, publish accurate results quickly and deliver certificates and mark sheets to students without delay. One-year Kamil exams are now underway, and their results will also be published quickly, he said.

Ensuring quality education requires more than monitoring exams, Khan said. A cheat-free environment must be guaranteed. He said strict directives have been sent to all madrasas in the country and called for collective effort to build a modern, contemporary education system. He also expressed hope that the university would be run free of corruption and under the rule of law.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Shahidul Islam said the relevant offices are working without rest to reduce session backlogs to zero by holding exams and publishing results quickly.

The exams were held at 167 centers nationwide between Jan. 3 and Feb. 9, 2026. A total of 42,339 candidates sat for the first-year and final-year exams combined; 37,622 passed. The first-year pass rate was 83.51 percent and the final-year pass rate 96.12 percent.
