Teenage workshop worker killed in Kanaighat

A teenage workshop worker has died after being attacked over a trivial dispute in Kanaighat municipal town, Sylhet.

He died while undergoing treatment at Osmani Medical College Hospital on Monday (29 June) morning.

The teenager was the son of a rickshaw puller from Dalairmati village in Kanaighat municipality.

It was learned that the teenager was seriously injured at around 8pm on Sunday (28 June) when a young man allegedly struck him with a screwdriver at a local workshop. Locals rescued him and took him to Sylhet’s Osmani Hospital.

According to local sources, he died at around 10am on Monday while undergoing treatment.

Kanaighat police station officer-in-charge Md Aminul Islam said police had visited the scene on receiving news of the incident. The victim’s family had not yet filed a written complaint, he said.
