Pakistan’s interior minister travels to Iran for talks

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has left for Iran and will meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a visit to Tehran on Saturday. Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, told the ISNA news agency that the visit was part of Islamabad’s continuing efforts as a mediator. Pakistan is mediating talks between the United States and Iran to end the war.

Naqvi previously met Araghchi and Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on June 7.

Pakistani officials have been making regular visits to the United States and Iran to help conclude a lasting peace agreement between the two.

On Wednesday, the presidents of Iran and the United States formally signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU).
