The government is giving students who fail public examinations, among them the SSC, the HSC and their equivalents, the chance to sit them again as quickly as possible without waiting a year. As part of this, students who fail the HSC and equivalent examinations will be examined within two months.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, told a news outlet this on Monday evening.

He said the results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations may be published between 25 and 29 October. The education boards have proposed to the education ministry that a day within that period be set as the probable date. An examination will then be arranged again within two months for the students who fail.

The board chairman added: “We have held a meeting at the board about this. We have then told a meeting at the education ministry of our plan too.”

He also said the boards are prepared to examine the students who fail as quickly as possible after the HSC results are published.

Earlier, on Saturday, at an event at the China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital, Mahdi Amin, the prime minister’s adviser on education and spokesman for his office, said the government is considering favourably the question of letting candidates who fail the SSC and HSC sit the examinations again within three months without waiting a year.
