Former law minister Shafique Ahmed dies at 88

DHAKA — Former law minister and senior Supreme Court advocate Barrister Shafique Ahmed has died.

He died at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Medical Hospital in the capital. He was 88.

Shafique Ahmed was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night, April 11, with liver complications, family members said.

He served as minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs in the Awami League government from 2009 to 2014.
