Attackers have hacked to death a Jubo Dal leader named Kawsar in the Chhatrakhil area of Cumilla city. The attack took place on Friday, 16 October, in Chhatrakhil on the north bank of the Gumti river. He was rescued badly injured and taken to hospital, where a doctor declared him dead.
Kawsar lived in the Kaptan Bazar area of Ward 4 of Cumilla city.
According to local sources, attackers set on Kawsar in Chhatrakhil on Friday, hacking him at random and leaving him gravely wounded. Local people took him to Cumilla Trauma Hospital, where the emergency doctor declared him dead after examining him.
Local people believe the killing may have been the result of an old feud, but why and by whom the attack was carried out has not been confirmed.
Cumilla additional superintendent of police Md Lutfur Rahman said: “We have learned that Jubo Dal leader Kawsar has died. Several police teams are working on the incident.”
