Eight more children have died of measles or measles-like symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, and 1,039 new measles cases were confirmed. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) gave the information in its regular measles bulletin on Wednesday.
The bulletin said 945 suspected measles patients were found in the period, taking the number of suspected cases from 15 March to 10 June to 82,029. Confirmed cases in the past 24 hours numbered 94, with 9,927 confirmed patients from 15 March to 10 June. In that period 66,999 people were admitted to hospital with suspected measles, of whom 63,145 have recovered and been discharged. Eight died of suspected measles in the past 24 hours, and a total of 547 children have died of suspected measles from 15 March to 10 June, the bulletin said.
