Four more children have died of measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. Over the same period, 1,145 children were newly infected. The number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms over the past three and a half months has risen to 716.
The figures were given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles report on Monday (29 June).
The report said the deaths and infections had occurred between 8am Sunday (28 June) and 8am Monday (29 June).
Of the 1,145 children infected in the past 24 hours, 141 were confirmed with measles and the remaining 1,004 were infected with measles symptoms. The number of children infected with measles or its symptoms over the past roughly three and a half months has risen to 112,062.
Of the four children who died most recently, two were from Dhaka, one from Sylhet and one from Mymensingh.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, measles symptoms have appeared in 100,211 children between 15 March this year and now. Over the same period, tests confirmed measles in 11,851 children.
During this period, 83,806 children were hospitalised with measles symptoms, of whom 80,193 recovered and returned home after treatment.
In the past 24 hours, 962 children were hospitalised with measles, while 1,041 were discharged after recovering.
